Tribute to Bonnie1998-2010
The following tribute was written by Bonnie's owner, National Pyr volunteer Fran Cancellieri:
We adopted Bonnie from the local Bideawee shelter in October 2000 at 2 years of age along, with a 7-week-old corgi mix (Tigger).
As our first-ever Pyrenees, Bonnie taught us the meaning of grace and quiet strength in any situation to come along. She weighed only 60 pounds when we adopted her, but grew to be 37 inches tall and 150 pounds — a very large girl indeed. Like all Pyr owners, when out on walks we would get stopped often to meet the white polar bear of a dog, especially when we had the three dogs out together.
Thanks to Bonnie, we became involved with fostering & being part of Pyr rescue. She was the mother of many Pyrs who traveled through our house, some for weeks at a time and others only for brief stays. Our house has been full of dogs and love since the day she arrived. We ended up adopting two more Pyrs, Loki & his sister Ginger, now 6 years old. We also adopted a mini Dachshund and of course Tigger, who now at 10 misses her Mom. Bonnie will always be a part of our lives. We remember so much about her: the over-the-shoulder look she would give us as she walked away while we called her ("just a minute; I'll be there after I patrol some more"), her howling along with the sirens, and oh my, so much more — we enjoyed so much laughter at the things she did.
Bonnie left us with a gentle sigh lying in my lap and promises of sending more Pyrs our way. We'll miss our beloved girl.

Bonnie
